JED's Mission Print E-mail
The JED Collective is a nonprofit mutual benefit association organized:

a). To lease and to hold title to land, buildings and other property, protecting it from market speculation and facilitating its cooperative, democratic stewardship by a long-term community of caretakers.

b). To support the work of individuals and the community to build cooperative, land-based livelihoods through ecological agriculture and forestry, wildcrafting, hand skills, and other homesteading practices.

c). To protect and care for the land and water of the Berry Pond watershed, in which the organization is located, and to which the organization is morally bound.

d). To preserve and protect affordable housing and to facilitate the development of a healthy and equitable cooperative community of individuals and families who share resources, land, living and work space, and a broad commitment to social, ecological and economic justice on all levels from the interpersonal to the global.

e). To develop and sustain structures, traditions and relationships that foster freedom, justice, love and solidarity among and between collective members, our wider human communities, our non-human neighbors and the land.

f). To foster and support local and global efforts for social, ecological and economic justice through active participation, education, and resource sharing.
